PROFILE PHOTOS ON SOCIAL NETWORKS: WHAT SHOULD I PUT?

You can know a lot about a person by just viewing their profile pictures on social media. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn Analiz analyzing that photo in detail anyone can detect some traits of that person’s personality.

The profile photos we put are our showcase, our cover letter to the world. This reflects how we see ourselves and how we want others to see us. In this post we will tell you what traits your future boss can detect by just looking at your profile photos. Let’s get started!

Below I tell you about the most common photos that we find on social networks and that are not entirely suitable if you want to take care of your personal brand. Don’t miss details!

Half photo. Typical profile pictures where you don’t see them at all, are with their backs, or looking at another site in general. These people have no interest in being recognized. They flee from the desire for prominence and are reserved. This type of photos are not convenient, because the person looking for you will have as a final goal to see, at least, the face, and if they do not get that, they will immediately have an image that will not be entirely positive.

Mirror photo. People who upload profile pictures one in which they appear themselves in the mirror, the intention they have is for others to see it as that person sees themselves. What does this mean? They need to prove that in the photo there is no trap, that that photo is the exact reflection of your person. Personally I also do not advise this type of photographs, since they are today very linked to the typical cani photo and that reduces professionalism on all four sides.

Photo phrase. There are many people who directly go from uploading their image to profile pictures on social networks, and opt for a phrase that reflects their ideologies or thoughts. These people have a clear proposition, that they are known or recognized not by what they are, but by what they think. It is definitely not a advisable photo to put in profile. Maybe if cover, since it is a wider area to show a different side of you that you have not shown in the main photo.

Photo runner. All those people who put profile pictures of themselves doing sports activities want to show the world that they are strong and that they maintain a healthy life. This reflects postureo, a lot of postureo, and that’s why I would not recommend it for a profile photo either, since it also subtracts seriousness and professionalism.

Photo Party. Very common, huh? Photos where they hang out with people partying, or having something with friends, have no other intention than to show the world how fun they are and how good they have a good time. This image can sometimes be negative, since before a future boss it can evoke irresponsibility.

Photo love. Perhaps it is the photo that predominates most in social networks. Those who hang the photo of their partner for profile pictures, are people clearly proud of the love they feel and the great happiness that invades them from being with that person. With this they also want to demonstrate to that couple their great commitment. I don’t think it’s an inappropriate photo at all for social media, but I think that by putting a photo with your partner you miss the opportunity to show yourself in another way that may favor you much more.

Photo fiction. It’s not you. Maybe it’s your favorite fictional character, your favorite movie poster cart but it’s not you. You opt for that image because you prefer it before uploading your own. These people usually always intend to express their opinions for some kind of reason. If someone as geek as you is looking for you, then, you’ve had the luck of your life. Otherwise, they will do next automatically.

Black and white photo. We all know that in black and white we are always more beautiful. People who show retouched photos or a little more artistic, want to give the outside a better image better than they perceive themselves. I do not advise against a black and white photo, but I do find it inappropriate a photo retouched to the maximum where in the end you do not show yourself, if not the perfect version of yourself (which does not exist).

I want to take this opportunity to make a special appeal to all active users on Twitter who still have egg photo. Yes, they exist! And you would be surprised at how many I meet every day. You launch several daily tweets, you are active on this social network… what is the need for people to see you as a bot? Put a photo of yourself in the profile!

So qué what photo should I put?

A 100% real photo, which shows how you are and somehow conveys the values you have. The best thing is that it has quality, that your face looks good and that you are expressive. (it’s always better to smile.) Place yourself in a neutral environment so that the surrounding elements do not distract and Voil voila! You will have your profile picture ready to upload to all social platforms.

You know, if you have a photographer friend, it’s time to ask him a favor…
